Mexico, MO, Sept. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fluid Power Support, a Missouri-based metal fabrication business, has announced plans for rapid growth made possible by a continuous, strategic investment in several Mazak lasers. According to Mark Korman, the founder and CEO of Fluid Power Support, adding top-shelf lasers like the Optiplex 3015, the FG400, and flat lasers will provide a runway for the organization to scale without putting undo strain on his workforce.
“A lot of the processes we were doing before required using two or three work centers to get the end product we needed,” explains Korman. However, he notes that by investing in lasers, he’s been able to automate his company’s workflows. Additionally, he says he’s been able to run his metal fabricating at an impressive 24/7 pace without requiring employees to work excessively. In this way, he’s enabling a more balanced work-life culture for his team while maintaining a profitable, competitive business.
Continuing a Legacy of Growth Through Experimentation
Fluid Power Support isn’t new to the manufacturing world, but its culture has remained relevant and on the leading edge by consistently embracing fresh, innovative thinking. Accordingly, the company has spent the past 26 years experimenting with the latest equipment and training methods. As a result, the company has experienced consistent growth in both its customer base and its loyal workforce.
Taking care of employees isn’t just lip service for Korman or Fluid Power Support, either. It’s a daily commitment. Korman’s primary concern for many years has been to enable his team members to be exceptional at creating any products out of metal. (They even built their factory themselves, a testament to their skill and achievements.)
Korman credits consistently bringing new technologies into his company as being one of the reasons that employee satisfaction is high. He notes that technology enables some welders to feel comfortable working in pairs or groups of three to provide customers with quick turnaround requests.
Korman also is proud that workers at Fluid Power Support have the opportunity to improve their mastery of and skills on the most modern machinery, as well as the empowerment to be creative. As Korman explains, when a customer has special sheet metal or structural fabrication needs, “we can usually step in and help them out.”
Satisfying Customers Along With Employees
Employees aren’t the only ones who are benefitting from the expansion into more and smarter equipment at Fluid Power Support. Customers are, too.
From a customer standpoint, being able to get any metal component on-demand, even if just one unit is needed, is a huge selling point. It’s also unusual because most manufacturers that are the size of Fluid Power Support don’t have access to advanced machinery and can’t adapt quickly to customers’ needs. However, it’s a reality for the customers who work with Korman.
Fluid Power Support is making itself the one-stop-shop for laser cutting, machining, welding, forming and finishing. That way, customers don’t have to visit multiple vendors to get the best metal products.
Ironically, Korman admits that he didn’t set out to become a forward-leaning manufacturer when he first founded his company. “We've grown to be a much larger business than we ever planned on being,” he states, adding that the business initially focused on hydraulics consulting, but quickly shifted into offering customized metal fabrication parts. “It was a little unexpected where we went, but I have to say it really worked out,” says Korman.
Ready for what’s coming down the road
In just over a quarter of a century, Fluid Power Support has transformed from offering hydraulics consultations to a niche market to becoming a diversified manufacturer. Was it an unexpected journey for Korman? Certainly, but his foresight to lean into technology has made it a profitable experience. And if all goes well, Korman’s revenue streams will extend far beyond his current base because of his vision.
Without a doubt, Korman is hedging his bets that having the best and fastest tools and equipment will allow his company to see even more success. His belief is that being able to transition rapidly from one product to the next without a lot of setup or hesitation will be a key in making sure his business can take on increasingly complex customer opportunities.
